Exploring the shoreline to find bugs and flowers. Bring along guide books to look things up

Giving kids a small backpack makes them feel like part of an outing. They can put a favourite toy or two in the pack along with a few clothes.


An oversize tent makes a great play area. This becomes important in wind or rain.


Choose rest stops and campsites with open areas where kids can play and explore.

Kids can participate around the campfire at meal time. Organizing the firewood and passing it to mom and dad can become a game. Be prepared with some songs.


Any beach can provide hours of fun. Kids love to play with the sticks and rocks found along the water's edge
