Kids are amazing when it comes to being comfortable in a canoe. The gentle rocking motion often puts them to sleep.



Bring along nature identification books and binoculars, it makes the outings more fun and educational



Be very careful around animals in the wild. If an animal seems upset in any way, give it a wide berth. With patience, its possible to get very close to animals in the wild without putting either them or yourself at risk.

 


The early morning is the best time to see wildlife. The clear, calm morning air made it easy to hear the snorts and whistles as this deer ran across the meadow.



It helps to have lots of years experience carrying packs along portages. Kids often need to be cuddled and this situation could create a problem for both mother and child if it isn't handled safely. Be prepared to take your time along portages. It helps if you familiar with a lot of camping songs.

 


The cool air of an October morning causes dancing mist to swirl in the morning sun. Because daybreak happens much later in the day at this time of year, youngsters are more likely to see sunrises.
