Tips for Trippers

an excerpt from the book "Cradle to Canoe"

Kids and canoes

Canoes are a great way to take children into the wilderness.

Regardless of their age, kids will want to feel like their part of the trip and parents need to be prepared to accommodate them. The canoe above is being paddle backwards to the way it was desgined. The child in the front is actually sitting in the stern seat. By arranging the canoe this way, it accomplishes two important goals. The weight distribution is more even, which makes the canoe easier to paddle and the child is able to sit on a much narrower seat, which makes it easier for them to reach the water.

This will improve everyone's enjoyment of a paddling adventure.
